Rounding up the emojisโฆ
A running log of updates, new features, and additions to emodji.com. I try to ship something new every few weeks.
Last updated: February 6, 2026
Launched the Emoji Quiz โ test how well you really know your emoji. Also added the Emoji Compatibility Checker so you can see how emoji render across different platforms before sending them, and the Emoji Calendar for daily emoji inspiration tied to holidays and events.
Hit a milestone I've been working toward for months: every single emoji in Unicode 16.0 now has a hand-written description in the Emoji Wiki. That's 1,800+ individual entries, each reviewed for actual real-world usage โ not just copy-pasted from the Unicode spec.
Added themed emoji collections โ curated sets for Valentine's Day, remote work communication, Gen Z slang, and more. Each collection includes context on when and how to use the emoji, not just a list of symbols.
Published a batch of new articles diving into emoji psychology, cultural differences in emoji interpretation, platform comparison deep-dives, and practical guides. All researched from primary sources โ Unicode Consortium docs, academic papers, and platform changelogs.
Added three arcade-style games to the collection: Phoenix (space shooter), Pango (maze game), and Kongie (platformer). All emoji-themed, all playable right in the browser. These were fun to build โ especially getting the physics right in Kongie.
emodji.com went live with the core emoji wiki, Image to Emoji converter, original games like Bubble Shooter and Sudoku, and a handful of tools. The beginning of something I'd been wanting to build for a long time.
